John Moran’s lip-syncing dance operetta, Saori’s Birth­day, which was orig­i­nally cre­ated at Per­for­mance Space 122 in New York, was remounted at this year’s Dublin Fringe Fes­ti­val, Sep­tem­ber 8 – 13. Due to the unusual com­plex­ity of the cuing, my light­ing design proved to be very dif­fi­cult to re-create, espe­cially with me in Chicago. After I cre­ated extremely in-depth paper­work, the rig was repro­duced in Ire­land, and John called the show from my notes. The show went off with­out a hitch.
